About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview/Purpose:

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Training Supervisor is responsible for the continued development, implementation and maintenance of Island Gold’s Health and Safety Program. The Training Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of training programs within an organization. Their duties include assessing training needs, developing, and delivering training programs, managing training resources, and evaluating program effectiveness to ensure employees are equipped with the necessary skills.


Primary Responsibilities:

Demonstrate exceptional safety leadership in line with the Alamos Gold values. Effectively work with Island Gold District Employees and Contractors to reduce risk and improve safety culture.
Needs Assessment: Identifying training needs through various methods like training needs analysis, performance reviews, and feedback from employees and supervisors.
Program Development: Designing, developing, and implementing training programs, including creating training materials, selecting appropriate training methods, and developing
Program Delivery: training sessions, workshops, or other learning events, potentially utilizing various methods like classroom training, on-line courses, or on-the-job training.
Oversee: Coordinating training schedules, logistics, and communication with participants and
Oversee: Trainers, instructors, or facilitators, providing guidance and support, and ensuring quality of training Stay current on best practices in training and development and making recommendations for program improvements.
Compliance: Ensure all training programs comply with relevant regulations, policies, and
Support departments in the development, review and maintenance of policies and Ensure all document control standards are achieved. Employee Development: Supporting employee growth and development by providing training.



Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

A positive record of exceptional safety leadership behavior and supervisory
A technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in health, safety, or related
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a safety-related, training-related position or related technical position in the mining industry.
Train the Trainer, Common Core modules (770120, 770010, 770225, 770141, 770210, 810050)
A detailed understanding of safety risks and controls in the mining A thorough technical understanding of critical risk controls related to working at heights, LOTO, confined spaces, explosives, mobile equipment interaction, hazardous materials, ground control, lifting practices, equipment safe-guarding, and industrial hygiene.
Experience in facilitating formal risk assessments and a thorough understanding of operational risk management systems.
Knowledge and experience in incident investigations and root cause analysis
A thorough understanding and experience in utilizing management of change principles
A thorough understanding of emergency preparedness and emergency response
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and excellent written communication
Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation


Working Conditions:

This position will work on 4 days on, 3 days off schedule, 10 hours per day.
The role is comprised of a combination of office and in-field (Surface and Underground Mines, and Process Plant) work.
