The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

TRAINING COORDINATOR


Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Training Superintendent, the Training Coordinators work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver safe and effective training programs in accordance with business and legislative requirements. They prepare, facilitate, monitor, evaluate and document training programs and their impact at Côté Gold.


Key Responsibilities


Area 1:

Prepare, facilitate, monitor, evaluate and document training programs and their impact.

- Conduct regular and proactive training needs assessments to identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed.

- Conduct regular and proactive gap assessments of current training to deliver on continuous improvement.

- Design and develop training programs (outsourced and/or in-house) to meet needs and/or fill gaps.

- Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with experts regarding instructional design.

- Select appropriate training methods or activities (ex. simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training).

- Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials.

- Oversee training schedules to ensure that programs are delivered on time and according to internal timelines.

- Work with department managers and company leadership to determine when to schedule training to prevent excessive business interruption.

- Provide materials and programs to trainers, who then lead employee training sessions.

- Provide coaching and mentoring to the training team. Advise them on how to best incorporate activities and materials and assess the impact of training materials.

- Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs.

- Gather and assess feedback from trainers and trainees after each training.

- Lead training sessions using the materials and programs that are developed.

- Help resolve issues that arise during training.

- Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment.

- Maintain training records according to company and Ministry of Labour standards.


Area 2:

Work collaboratively with others to deliver safe and effective training programs in accordance with business and legislative requirements.

- Provide training leadership and direction to stakeholders to ensure that the business objectives are met.

- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet training deliverables.


- Mentor and train new team members.

- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.

- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.

- Ensure training and rotation handover records are accurate and complete.

- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.

- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.

- Be proactive and solution driven and implement operational improvements.


- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.

- Continually seek to improve your skills as a Training Coordinator.


- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.

- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.

- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

- Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).


Qualifications


Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

Minimum qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

- post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.

- “Train the Trainer” accreditation.


Working Experience – Nature & Length

- Minimum 5 years of experience in the mining industry.


Additional qualifications – competency requirements

- Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory and principles.

- Knowledge of learning management systems (Cognibox experience is considered an asset).

- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.


- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented.

- Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality.

- Ability to work with others in a team environment.

- Ability to organize and prioritize job duties.


- Pleasant and courteous in interpersonal interactions.
