Ketek is seeking an experienced Trainer to join our growing department.
The trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality training programs that equip employees and external clients with the knowledge and practical skills needed to perform their tasks safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires both classroom instruction and hands-on practical demonstrations, along with ongoing evaluation of students abilities. The Trainer will collaborate with the training team to maintain, improve, and expand the success of Ketek's training operations.
- Coordinate with the Training Coordinator on all in-house and external course offerings.
- Deliver comprehensive training on the safe and efficient operation of mobile equipment (loader, skid steer, forklift, aerial work platform, overhead crane, etc.).
- Educate students on Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Ketek policies, standards, and work procedures.
- Provide internal corrective action training sessions within required deadlines.
- Recommend safer methods, procedures, and preventative measures.
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper PPE at all locations (office, shop, and client sites).
- Ensure all employee and client training records are accurate and up to date.
- Assist with course revisions and development to reflect current standards and best practices.
- Verify that all required documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
- Assist administrative staff with scheduling, reporting, and monitoring internal program needs.
- Promote and maintain excellent relationships with employees, clients, and industry partners.
- Provide support to other trainers as needed.
- Minimum 3 years of experience training adult learners.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience operating mobile equipment (loader, skid steer, forklift, AWP, or similar).
- Availability to work weekends as part of the regular schedule.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Experience towing a variety of trailers, including fifth wheel.
- Fluent in English (reading, written, and spoken).
- Strong public speaking skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational planning skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-changing environment.
- Ability to travel to external client locations and Ketek branches.
- Instructor certifications or knowledge in Energy Safety Canada (ESC) courses (e.g., H2S Alive, Fall Protection, MEWP, etc.).
- Have or knowledge in First Aid (Canadian Red Cross preferred).
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline.
- Knowledge of adult instructional theory, instructional design, training methodologies, and competency assessment.
- Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands/fingers to operate equipment and computers, and occasionally stoop or kneel.
- Use of mechanical aids such as overhead cranes, forklifts, loaders, skid steers, and aerial work platforms is required.
- Approximately 70% office/classroom environment and 30% yard/shop environment.
- Mandatory weekend work and occasional hours outside of regular business times.
- Ability to travel to remote customer sites and other Ketek locations as needed.
