DESCRIPTION:
This Millwright (Tradesperson) position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for providing the operations team with facility-related technical expertise and leading project management activities for facility maintenance projects / major turnarounds. The Millwright also acts as the point of contact for their assigned facility and will drive continuous improvement through collaboration with other departments and management. Other responsibilities include project evaluation, project development, leading management of change, and incident/hazard investigations.
This role will interact with internal and external parties at all levels, and is expected to consistently apply exceptional interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills. Having a customer service approach and vetting priorities and allocating necessary resources on a day-to-day and long-term basis are essential functions to satisfy the primary requirements of this position.
Travel: Occasional travel to field locations will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibility Area #1 – Technical Expertise
•Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical equipment issues
•Fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up
•Perform routine maintenance work on machinery
•Assemble machinery prior to installation
•Understand and read Engineered Blueprints and drawings
•Bearing, seals and packing
•Keep work area and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition
•Perform duties and operate equipment in a safe and satisfactory manner
•Provide facility related technical support through facility life cycle.
•Facility process and equipment troubleshooting and optimization
•Technical support for project execution, operations, and business development
•Participation in HAZOPS, PHA, and Facility Impact Assessments
Responsibility Area #2 – Engineering Projects & Planning
•Execute capital and maintenance projects, as the project manager to meet commitments to customers
•Act as project manager and project engineer to manage all assign projects; including planning, economics, scheduling, execution, cost tracking, forecasting and some project controls
•Project and Technical oversight of 3rd party engineering firms performing work on existing facilities
•Provide monthly project status reports to management
•Champion project management staged gate process
•Monitor budget and schedule for assigned projects and provide monthly reporting
•Follow ATCO Project Management procedures
•Champion the MOC process and contribute to executing field level MOCs
Responsibility Area #3 –Safety, Regulatory & Compliance
•Work with the HSSE department and committees to ensure that ATCO standards and OH&S requirements are followed
•Report and follow up on incidents and Hazard ID’s
•Complete job and area observations
•Comply with corporate standards, policies, procedures and guidelines
•Familiarity with and incorporation of regulatory and industry codes, standards, directives, bulletins and guides
•Participation in the annual Corporate Emergency Response Planning Exercise
•Active involvement in the joint health & safety committee
•Report and follow up on incidents and Hazard ID’s
•Complete job and area observations
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
•Journeyman Millwright required,
•5-7 years of industrial mechanical experience, preferably working with Sulzer pumps and natural gas compression.
•Work with Maximo maintenance management system would be a asset.
•Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
•Able to work well in both a team and independently, and comfortable using computer/tablet
•This is a centralized maintenance position so there will be travel to work at other sites about 25% of the time.
•Accurate and highly analytical with a strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
•Comfortable working at heights, dusty environments, heat/cold, indoors/outdoors, and confined spaces
•OCCASIONALLY ABLE TO LIFT HEAVY LOADS OF UP TO 50LBS.
•Demonstrated ability to function independently, take initiative and function with a high degree of professionalism.
•Demonstrated resourcefulness and the ability to work as an effective team member.
•Ability to prioritize conflicting demands.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present critical information to field operations and company management in a simple and concise manner.
•Ability to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible and steadfast.
•Comprehensive understanding of safety and regulatory requirements.
•Constantly improving technical skills and knowledge through attendance at training courses, courses, industry meetings, and workshops.
•Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
