This role involves designing and implementing wireless communication systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Description
We are currently seeking candidates to fill multiple positions. This role is advertised at various grade levels and will be filled based on the applicant's education and relevant experience. The position is articulated at the middle grade level, with expectations that will increase at higher grade levels.
Job Responsibilities:
Apply knowledge to support the planning, research, evaluation, design, and development of 800 MHz wireless radio systems and related telecommunications site activities.
Participate in the configuration, installation, and performance analysis of these systems.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Candidates should have backgrounds in telecommunications engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, or electrical engineering, preferably related to telecom site and tower activities.
While experience in IP networking is valued, candidates with only IP networking skills will not be considered.
Please note that references to 'network' or 'networking' in the job description specifically pertain to radio networks and do not include traditional IP networks or Wi-Fi systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:* Participates in design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems. Follows policies, practices, procedures, standards, and company rules relative to assignments. Complies with regulations and procedures required by external agencies.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study or Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required. Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above. Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License is Required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:* Possess intermediate level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles.
