The Team Lead, Material Coordination is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the Material Coordination function, including workload balancing, process execution, system utilization, and personnel development. This role supports the strategic and tactical operations of the Supply Chain organization, ensuring consistent execution and responsiveness to field and project requirements. Reporting to the Manager of Materials Planning and Coordination, this position acts as a technical expert, coach, and escalation point for the Material Coordination team and collaborates cross-functionally to drive operational excellence in material availability, project support, and inventory integrity.
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Essential Functions:
Tactical Responsibilities
•Leads daily operations and workload distribution across the Material Coordinator team, ensuring efficient support of capital and maintenance projects.
•Serves as primary escalation point for critical or high-impact material needs requiring cross-functional coordination or higher-level intervention.
•Supports material coordination for complex or high-volume projects when needed, particularly during peak periods.
•Oversees consistent process execution across the team, reinforcing procedural adherence and data integrity in Maximo and other systems.
•Leads the execution and improvement of the Project Material Returns process, including field coordination, data analysis, and return validation.
•Tracks order avoidance and financial benefit data in the Inventory Reduction tracking system.
•Performs routine audits of IR records to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal audit requirement.
•Collaborates with Project Managers, Field Operations, Construction, and Warehouse teams to optimize materials planning and execution.
•Ensures internal customers understand and adhere to material coordination protocols and tools.
Strategic Responsibilities
•Builds and maintains strong internal relationships across Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, and Finance to ensure cohesive support strategies.
•Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on material coordination systems, tools, and best practices, providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
•Identifies and leads process improvement initiatives that enhance material availability, data accuracy, project alignment, and return-on-inventory investments.
•Communicates effectively and persuasively across functions, tailoring messaging to influence outcomes and support business goals.
•Coaches, mentors, and inspires team members to develop professionally, deliver consistent performance, and grow their operational understanding.
•Contributes to a respectful, inclusive, and high-performance work environment while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
•Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and utility materials logistics.
•Advanced knowledge of the IBM Maximo ERP system.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong data analysis capabilities.
•Solid grasp of business and financial concepts as applied to supply chain functions (e.g., TCO, inventory value, project cost alignment).
•Proven leadership, supervisory, and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and team dynamics.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing without authority and resolving conflicts constructively.
•Ability to work collaboratively with field personnel and professional staff across all organizational levels.
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree preferred, especially in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
Experience
:
•Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in supply chain, utility construction, materials coordination, or logistics.
•Demonstrated success working cross-functionally and in support of field construction or capital project execution.
•Experience with data-driven decision-making, operational support, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
•Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
•Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
•Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, writing, typing and communicating. Up to 25% travel.
•Repetitive movement of hands and fingers through typing and writing. Reaching with hands and arms. Occasional standing, walking, stooping or bending.

The annual salary range for this position is:
$114,300.00-$127,000.00
