POSITION OVERVIEW: The Team Lead supervises and leads the department they are assigned. They make decisions on changes in production schedules, quality issues, and staffing. They must have the ability to ensure a safe, clean, and respectful working environment, as well meeting metrics (efficiencies, productivity, safety, quality, performance), and perform other assignments as directed.
DEPARTMENT AREAS:
Press Packing Welding Shipping and Receiving Maintenance
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Maintain and uphold department goals surrounding safety, quality, on time delivery and communicate this information daily to management, employees, and across shift.
•Maintain and coordinate production to support the department supervisor.
•Plans and coordinates work to be performed
•Ensure safe and clean working environment.
•Promote quality, productivity, and a positive environment for employees.
•Ensure consistent policy and regulatory compliance.
•Must have ability to gain and retain forklift certification.
•Train, develop and hold team members accountable to safety, quality, and production compliance, along with sustaining 5S in all areas of their department(s) (5S= Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
•Ensure team members are placed appropriately per shift to support production needs and maintain optimum efficiency.
•Ensure the flow of resources is maintained and that production items are delivered as needed and used properly and efficiently.
•Supervise and develop team members; complete performance reviews, identify personnel and overtime recommendations; address employee relation concerns; manage direct reports time keep and vacation in organization’s time keep program to company standards.
•Enforce policy compliance; manage team members performance through Nelson Discipline process.
•Facilitate in partnership with safety leadership, near miss investigations, safety, and employee incidents.
•Support and participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
•Promote employee satisfaction and follow up on employee relations concerns.
•Work with HR around employee issues, investigation, and policy conformance.
•Keep work area(s) safe and Clean (5S= Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
•Complete timely and accurate paperwork.
•Delegate responsibilities as needed.
•Other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•Previous supervisory or Lead experience preferred
•Manufacturing or production experience is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Have a positive attitude and act professionally
•Comfortable working in a group and individual setting
•Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
•Ability to problem-solve and resolve issues
•Ability to lift up to 25#
•Ability to push, pull, twist, squat, bend, reach, walk, and stand up to 10 hours per shift.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
In terms of a normal workday: Continuously (up to 100%), Frequently (up to 66%), Occasionally (up to 33%),
•Continuously standing or walking for 10-hour shift.
•Frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
•Occasionally squat or kneel.
•Good hand and eye coordination.
