Tax Manager

We are working with Smoker Smith and Associates to find a ROCKSTAR Tax Manager.

Smoker Smith and Associates is a full-service accounting firm dedicated to helping businesses and individuals achieve their financial goals, not only in Central Pennsylvania, but across all borders.

The Tax Manager will serve as a subject matter expert in tax law and complex compliance. This role requires deep, specialized knowledge of current and historical tax codes and regulations, with primary responsibility for the preparation, review, and technical analysis of the firm's most complex tax filings.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently prepare and rigorously review the most complex individual, trust, corporate, partnership income tax returns, ensuring absolute compliance with federal, state, and international tax laws.

- Maintain and apply expert-level knowledge of specific, niche areas of tax law pertinent to the firm's operations.

- Conduct in-depth technical reviews of completed tax returns and work papers for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to relevant tax legislation and internal policies. Identify and document highly technical reporting positions.

- Prepare comprehensive, technical documentation and detailed analysis to support tax positions during federal and state tax examinations and inquiries.

- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance and refine tax preparation and technical documentation processes, methodologies, and technology, focusing solely on technical accuracy and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Minimum of 3 years of progressive technical experience focused on tax compliance, research, and preparation, preferably within a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department with significant complexity.

- Demonstrated mastery of tax preparation software and deep proficiency in tax research tools.

- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and technical problem-solving skills with an uncompromising attention to detail.

- Proven ability to work independently and manage complex projects to strict deadlines without the need for supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $85,000.00 per year

Experience:

- Public accounting: 3 years (Required)
