Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is a progressive member owned utility with a service area that spreads from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay. REC serves over 165,000 connections in portions of 22 Virginia counties.
REC has a job opening for the position of Talent and Workforce Coordinator. The Coordinator performs tasks associated with recruitment and workforce development.
· Assist the Talent and Organizational Development Manager in managing the hiring process from job posting to onboarding to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
· Prepare and manage job postings, ensuring proper approvals and documentation have been received
· Review resumes and screen applicants to identify qualified candidates for open positions
· Manage necessary documentation related to hiring, including offer letters
· Maintain applicant data and assist with report preparation
· Assist the Organizational Development and Talent Specialist with coordination and facilitation of employee development programs and learning events
· Assist with special projects related to recruitment and/or workforce optimization and efficiency
High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in business administration or related field strongly preferred. One to three years’ related experience required.
The ideal candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with both candidates and hiring managers. Excellent organizational abilities are essential to manage multiple job openings simultaneously, along with strong time-management skills to meet deadlines. The role requires the ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment and handle multiple projects that involve team coordination. A solid understanding of commonly used software, programs, and applications, particularly Microsoft Office, is expected. In addition, strong interpersonal skills are necessary to foster positive relationships, and general knowledge of recruitment and/or workforce development is desired.
The position is primarily performed under usual office conditions and is based on a standard forty-hour work week, with some overtime required as needed. Occasional local and out-of-town travel may also be necessary to attend training, meetings, interviews, job fairs, conferences, and other related events.
The Technician is responsible for providing and maintaining field communication systems essential to the Cooperative, which includes the installation, operation, monitoring, maintenance, programming, and repair of the SCADA system. Additionally, this role ensures the optimal functioning of the Cooperative's Load Management and AMI systems by performing similar task, installation, operation, monitoring, maintenance, programming, and repairing both systems to support their effective performance.
- Configure, Test, Install, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair SCADA, AMI, and Load Management Systems in substations and other applicable locations across the service territory.
- Installation and repair of a broad range of complex field communications equipment.
- Maintain records and procedures for these systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections for these systems.
- Provide support to other departments to include but not limited to: relaying, substation, apparatus, fiber, networking, and system operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Associates degree required in electrical/electronic technology or computer science. Six years of progressive experience directly related to field communications systems, wiring, or electrical style engineering, may substitute for degree. Participation in a State of Virginia or other accredited program related to the electric industry may be substituted for the degree requirements.
Assist with system operations and restoration efforts during major outages, and provide backup support to telecommunications technicians with microwave systems, two-way radios, towers, and other related tasks as needed. This position will also attend out-of-town seminars, assist in workshops and training sessions, and participate in the development and testing of new equipment as it relates to the Cooperative and SCADA systems. Perform other duties as assigned.
Must have the ability to configure hardware and software related to SCADA and Load Management/AMI systems. The position requires effective communication skills with the general public, as well as the ability to perform electronic repair work, including troubleshooting and replacing components as needed. The individual must be able to develop reports to analyze the effectiveness of the SCADA and Load Management Systems and must hold a valid State of Virginia driver’s license. Perform other duties as assigned.
Most of the work is performed in the Headquarters office; however, periodic field trips for the installation, inspection, and maintenance of equipment in all types of weather will be required. The position will be subject to 24-hour call to maintain all Cooperative field communication systems or to support the Cooperative load management program. Overtime may be necessary during outages, load control periods, or as workload demands. Attendance at seminars, meetings, and conferences several times a year may also be required.
