The Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth and secure operation of computer systems-covering both hardware and software across physical and virtual environments. This position is responsible for maintaining core enterprise systems, ensuring data accuracy, and improving workflows that enable the organization to run smoothly. Responsibilities also include compliance with IT best practices and regulatory standards, collaboration with other team members and other teams, and participation in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems, virtual machines, and related software
- Manage and maintain VMware vCenter and Horizon View environments, including virtual machine deployment, configuration, and monitoring
- Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and failover clustering
- Manage and maintain MS SQL Server databases, including database design, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Windows operating systems, virtualization technologies, and network connectivity
- Work closely with other IT team members to ensure efficient operation of all IT systems and services
- Develop and maintain technical documentation of IT systems and processes
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in Windows system administration and virtualization technologies
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and maintenance as needed
- Follow proper change control procedures and adhere to industry compliance standards
The System Administrator reports to the IT Manager and works in relation to other IT team members
The initial annual salary will range from $107,300 - $123,400
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Years of Experience:
- Five years of experience in Windows System Administration
- Two years of experience with VMware vCenter and Horizon View
- Licenses/Certification: ITIL certification or other relevant industry certifications desired
- Software/Equipment Knowledge:
- At least 2 years of experience with VMware vCenter and Horizon View
- At least 5 years of experience with Windows Server, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, failover clustering, and MS SQL Server
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, virtualization technologies, and network protocols
- Experience with scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell
- Other Considerations:
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to lift 40lbs. Must be able to travel to remote data centers or business locations that are located in Houston and the Dallas area. This position works in an office and data center environment. Will require some travel. Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Will need to be available 24 hours in case of emergencies.
