Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and highly organized Electric Utility Dispatcher to join our team at Electrical District #2. This is a critical role within the District that requires flexibility and the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities related to electric distribution, load review, and more. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.
The salary range indicated in this job advertisement is contingent upon the candidate's level of experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Coordinate and dispatch work to field crews for electric distribution system maintenance, repairs, and installations.
•Monitor and manage daily operational workflows, ensuring timely and efficient response to service requests and outages.
•Provide clear, accurate, and timely communication to customers about service interruptions, expected resolution times, and updates.
•Issue Hot Line Orders and One Shots as needed via SCADA
•Maintain ED2’s Standard Operating Procedure for Hot Line Orders
•Manage the location of ED2 crews to facilitate efficient dispatching for outages.
•Work closely with the customer service team to address customer inquiries and concerns.
•Provide real-time status updates on work orders and outage resolutions to internal teams
•Utilize SCADA systems, maps, and other tools to track electrical grid operations and troubleshoot system issues.
•Perform routine load reviews and analysis to ensure the distribution system is operating within capacity.
•Identify potential overloading or underloading conditions and collaborate with engineering staff to resolve issues.
•Monitor demand fluctuations and assist in the development of load forecasting and system planning.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for customers reporting outages, electrical issues, or service interruptions.
•Provide clear, accurate, and timely communication to customers about service interruptions, expected resolution times, and updates.
Qualifications:
•Must have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
•Must have a valid Arizona driver's license and maintain residence within the District's boundaries.
•Additional education or training in electric utility operation, safety engineering, and right of way fields are required.
•Journeyman Certificate is required.
•Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Journeyman.
•Must have a good track record of safety and performance.
•Must be knowledgeable of electric utility operations and safety practices.
•An exceptional educational background may be considered for a portion of the experience requirements.
•Must believe in, be sympathetic with, and be interested in furthering the Districts objectives.
•Must possess a strong desire to promote and produce good safety practices for employees and the public in general.
•Should do all possible to furnish leadership and effective administration as an example for all District employees.
Essential Functions:
•Ensure all dispatching activities adhere to safety protocols and industry standards.
•Assist in maintaining accurate records for compliance with state, federal, and company regulations.
•Participate in ongoing training to stay up to date with new technologies and best practices.
•Support various other tasks as assigned, including maintaining documentation, assisting with system inspections, and collaborating with other departments to improve operational efficiency.
•Regularly review and analyze SCADA data to monitor health and performance of the electric grid
•Analyze SCADA alerts and help identify faults or outages
•Maintain clear communication with field personnel, management and customers to provide outage updates
•Operate switches, circuit breakers, and other control equipment via SCADA to manage the flow of electricity across the District.
•Keep accurate records of the system performance, outages, and any corrective actions taken.
•Work closely with all departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
•Document all outages and switching procedures for future reference.
•Become familiar with NISC’s Outage Management System to help coordinate outages.
•Work with IT Manager on SCADA system upgrades as needed.

Pay: $66,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
