The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Surface Surveyor to join our Team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position.

In this role, you will deliver survey services for Tailings and Dams, assisting with surface plant requests. Duties include maintaining water structures, submitting instrumentation data for the Engineer of Record (EOR), and communicating results to work groups. You will attend daily meetings, relay information to team members, and conduct inspections to ensure structure stability and address potential issues.


Major Accountabilities

Monitor tailings dams instrumentation, resolve system issues, and collect and submit monthly data for the Engineer of Record (EOR).
Perform field collection of weekly water levels, tailings line extension advancement surveys, and data interpretation, and maintain control point locations.
Conduct general surface surveying requests, develop and maintain surface drawings, and perform bathymetric surveys.
Provide stockpile material survey reports, facilitate field orientation, conduct personnel field safety reviews, and perform relief site inspections.
Participate in HomeSafe, kaizen, near miss, and condition reporting, and identify opportunities for safety, productivity, and cost improvements.
Utilize Home Safe tools, participate in the dam safety and performance monitoring program, work closely with technical groups, manage assigned projects, and ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.


About You


Education:

Secondary School
Post-Secondary Education preferred, with a minimum of a 3-Year Technologist program


Experience:

Less than 6 months of relevant experience


Skills:

Previous experience with surveying and outboard motors/boats, including a pleasure craft operating license, is considered an asset.
Superior organizational, time management, and effective communication skills in both formal and informal settings.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work with little supervision.
Ability to create networks and relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
