Surface Landman - Utah

Position Summary

Completes work with some supervision. The individual has solid analytical skills and adequate knowledge of the surface land business to perform work that is varied and moderate in complexity and involves moderate responsibility. With some guidance, must effectively negotiate surface damages and report to management problems and issues as they arise.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities

- Negotiate and secure surface agreements, water supply resources, water disposal options and other agreements required for the drilling, completion and production of oil and gas wells

- Serve as the company liaison with landowners, local agencies, other operators and all third parties as necessary and effectively manage complaints and resolve issues that may arise during surface-related business activities

- Coordinate with multiple internal groups to scout well pad locations, infrastructure locations and routing to facilitate future synergistic development

- Draft, review and comprehend agreements, contracts, and memos with little supervision

- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; always apply SM Energy’s environmental and health and safety policies and principles

- Coordinate and lead survey crews for all surface and wellbore related survey work

- Other duties as assigned

Computer/Software Applications

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as company specific computer software and applications, including but not limited to QLS, SAP and Aucerna Execute software. Proficient in land research resources such as Texas File, County Government Records, and Enverus applications.

Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills

Working knowledge of agreement provisions and obligations. Working knowledge of surface land management principals. Solid knowledge of drilling, completions, and daily production operations; especially as they relate to the surface land function.

Typical Education: B.B.A. degree in Energy Management, Land Management or other Business degree.

Typical Experience: Seeking recent graduates and candidates with 0 - 2 years of experience.

Schedule: In Office.

Salary Range: $91,800.00 To $127,000.00 (USD) Annually
