As the Supply Chain Materials Coordinator
, you are responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely availability of raw materials required to support Mill Steel Framing sales and production. This role maintains optimal stock levels, monitors aging finished goods, oversees purchasing for materials outside of internal processing capabilities, and proactively identifies material substitutions to improve production efficiency. The coordinator also delivers essential reporting and provides clear, consistent communication to internal stakeholders, acting as a central link between sales, production, purchasing, and plant operations.
This position works closely with Inside Account Managers, Fulfillment, Manufacturing, and the Associate Director of the Framing Division to ensure inventory aligns with customer demand, product specifications, and production schedules.
· Monitor daily raw material inventory levels and align needs with upcoming production requirements.
· Utilize business systems to track inventory in real time, analyze consumption patterns, assess demand forecasts, and support accurate material planning.
· Implement strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce excess inventory and waste, and prevent shortages while supporting production schedules.
· Manage material applications and order entry, ensuring accurate product specifications and raw stock alignment for all framing products.
· Partner with Inside Account Managers to communicate inventory timing, expected arrival dates, and availability of non-stock materials.
· Collaborate with Purchasing to review low-inventory items, evaluate sourcing options, and identify material substitutions that support cost-effective production runs.
· Maintain strong working relationships with plant management and supervisors across all framing facilities to support efficient production and material flow.
· Procure components or materials that fall outside of internal manufacturing capabilities.
· Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, process efficiency, and overall operational savings.
· Monitor and drive improvements in department key performance indicators (KPIs).
· Ensure a strong understanding of material, product, and customer specifications to support accurate planning and decision-making.
· Bachelor’s degree in business, materials science, engineering or a related field
· 2-3 years of experience in business, preferably within the steel or manufacturing industry
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically
· Proficiency in data analysis tools and software for performance tracking and improvement
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams
· Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
