JOB FUNCTION:
Oversees and drive fire prevention and safety on properties across the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Designs, implements, and supervises fire safety plans, policies, procedures, protocols, and fire safety training programs to safeguard lives and properties. Leads cross-departmental initiatives to address systemic fire safety risks, and represents the organization in audits, external inspections, and regulatory engagements. Manages fire safety risk assessments and inspection program, focusing on fire hazards, proper operation of suppression devices, adequacy of fire escapes and exits, and general compliance with fire codes. Collaborates with other business areas, including Facilities, Security, and Risk Management to ensure proper installation and maintenance of fire protection systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Responsible for fire safety requirements across all work locations of the company, including maintaining and enhancing fire protection systems. Fire protection systems include, but not limited to, water-based fire suppression systems, standpipe systems, chemical-based fire suppression systems, gaseous clean agent fire suppression systems, fire pump and control system, water supply and storage system, firefighting access, and fire hydrant systems, advanced early warning and conventional fire alarm/detection and mass notification system, fire alarm reporting system, smoke/control/management system, structural fireproofing system, firestop system, life safety, fire-resistance-rated construction, facility mutual fire exposure protection systems, hazardous material/waste protection, etc. + Oversees the development of strategic roadmaps for system modernization and compliance readiness, aligning fire protection infrastructure with operational priorities. Advises senior leadership on risk mitigation strategies and investment planning related to fire safety infrastructure. + Spearheads all work relating to fire safety and prevention to ensure enterprise-level compliance with NFPA guidance and all appropriate authorities having jurisdiction. Responsible for the effective operational delivery of service, strategic input to the systems, programs, and associated business tactics related to fire prevention and fire safety. Monitors fire protection systems and respond promptly to alarms and emergencies and develops programs and training to other locations to ensure correct response. Oversees inspections of buildings to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire safety regulations and standards. Addresses deficiencies and recommend improvements. Develops and executes strategies across departments for short and long-term projects to ensure continuous enhancement and improvement of fire protection systems. + Manages contractors on installation/upgrades/servicing/maintenance of fire protection systems, ensuring work is carried out to current legal standards. Oversees entire project to ensure scope, budget, and timeline are on target and maintain strategic alignment with organization’s priorities. + Develops and implements fire safety policies and procedures; manages and oversees inspection programs and conducts regular fire safety inspections of facilities and equipment; leads risk assessment and safety audit activities to identify fire hazards and implement preventative/corrective measures. Coordinates fire code compliance follow-up to ensure corrective measures has been taken. + Advises on and supports delivery of fire training for the organization. Manages and oversees training drills between emergency services and local fire departments. + Maintains records of fire protection system inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Manages inventory of fire system equipment and supplies. + Coordinates with Risk Management for the completion of the annual insurance audits. Supports the completion of fire safety based corrective actions.
+ Responsible for management, performance and activities of direct reports to include setting and communicating performance standards, allocating workload, developing goal setting, providing on-going coaching, training and development, evaluating performance, recognizing employee achievements, initiating disciplinary action where appropriate, and driving engagement to enhance fire safety competency. + Fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring team performance supports broader organizational goals. + Collaborates with senior leadership and cross-functional partners to refine fire safety objectives and initiatives to ensure alignment with the organization strategies.
+ Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response. + Perform any other duties that may be assigned or requested.
