Job Description
The Superintendent role will serve as the principal representative for all lab service relationships with a primary focus on the Kershaw Mineral Lab. This role will act as the primary point of contact between the business, operator of the KML, other providers of laboratory and analytical services, as well as other related service providers.
The Superintendent will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality, efficient, state and federal compliant lab services that meet site operational needs.
•Coordinate and manage all interactions with the KML and other related service provider(s),
•Serve as the primary liaison for all laboratory service contracts
•Ensure that services are delivered without interruption and meet operational needs through collaboration with operational and support departments
•Support procurement processes related to the relationships being managed, including contract negotiations and contract development.
•Facilitate weekly and monthly performance meetings
•Oversee lab maintenance & reliability, including facility maintenance, and analytical equipment support and maintenance, explore and implementing improvement opportunities
•Explore feasibility of South Carolina State Certification for expanding testing capabilities
•Support long-term planning through opportunity assessment, cost analysis and scenario planning
Qualifications
•Proven experience in analytical laboratory operations, preferably within the mining, processing, or heavy industrial sectors
•Demonstrated project management skills leading cross-functional initiatives
•Strong understanding of lab certifications and standards (e.g, ISO, SC State), including processes for obtaining and maintain compliance
•Highly proficient in computer systems
•Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
•Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to supplier lab sites etc.
•Familiarity with procurement and contract development process
•Background in environmental monitoring or quality assurance is advantageous
Physical Requirements:
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
•Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
•Work is in an operating mine environment, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
•Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
