Summary

The Steam Generator Program Engineer serves as the technical and programmatic lead for the steam generators at the Duke Energy PWR Nuclear Plants. In this role, the Steam Generator Program Engineer serves as the central point of contact for steam generator issues for the fleet. In addition to being responsible for technical and programmatic issues for the steam generators, the Steam Generator Program Engineer helps to establish the scope for steam generator inspection and maintenance activities and provides technical oversight for these activities during outages.

Collateral duties of this position include performing work on special projects, assessments, benchmarks, and other steam generator fleet initiatives, as well as performing related steam generator work activities in support of all Duke sites on as-needed basis.

The Engineer III position is the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. The Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.

The Senior Engineer is at the mid-career level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. The Senior Engineer is expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. Senior Engineer is fully competent in the use of concepts and procedures to identify problems, develop and implement solutions. The Senior Engineer serves in an advisory role, providing guidance to other engineers and project managers.

The Steam Generator Program Engineer will report to the Manager, SGME (Steam Generator Management and Engineering).
