Bachelor's degree in applicable field required (such as Biological Science, Wildlife Ecology, Environmental Science or Biology, Fisheries and Wildlife Management)
0 to 5 years of professional field experience related to wildlife species taxonomy/ ecology/surveys and vegetation/wetland assessment in the Eastern United States
Working knowledge and/or skills in the following specialized areas is desirable, but not required.
Completion of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation and Management Training Program 1s strongly recommended.
Biological resource mitigation design and monitoring planning .
Commitment to quality in both work processes and products.
Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record;
Be willing to travel, possible extended stay; and,
Be willing to work possible long hours and possible weekends.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
Complete mix of field and office work primarily related to wetland & stream delineation and associated reporting/permit preparation indcluding:
Stream and wetland field identification and delineation:
Field routing assessments and route development walks (for linear projects); Preparation of various permit applications related to energy industry clients (e.g .. coal & natural gas)
Assist in preparing detailed field documentation. reports, and mapping exhibits;
Communicate with clients third parties, and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues.
Water quality sampling of environmental resources and discharge points.
Stream flow monitoring for flow volumes observations, water chemistry etc.;
Fish and Wildlife Species identification. including wildlife species habitat ecology related research and monitoring surveys,
Vegetation community (upland, riparian and wetlands) and habitat classification inventory;
Biological information synthesis and interpretation, and preparation of technical reports,
Agency consultation for regulatory compliance (e.g. National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA], Endangered Species Act [ESA). Clean Water Act [CWA] and state and county equivalents); and
