Job Description

Participate in the design of new products in company’s line of solid-state electricity meters. Responsible for all phases of hardware product design, including technical analysis of product requirements, recommendation of design alternatives, functional specifications, schematic design, PCB layout, electronic component selection, hardware debug, hardware verification testing and release to manufacturing. Responsible for ASIC functional testing and validation covering both hardware and firmware and requires familiarity with hall sensor technologies for current measurement. Perform trouble shooting and failure analysis of complex electronic analog and digital circuitry using oscilloscopes, logic analyzer, multimeter, etc. and recommend design changes to rectify issues. Design analog signal processing and digital interface circuitry with emphasis on high accuracy and reliability in a harsh operating environment following technical industry standards and regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements

Requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a directly related field plus three (3) years of experience in product development. Experience must include:

Three (3) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

- High-volume, low-cost circuits with the highest standards for quality and reliability

- Switch mode power supplies; AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion topologies, signal integrity and isolation techniques, filter design, and communication protocols and microcontrollers

- Creating required design documentation; developing and maintaining development schedules; developing design specifications from customer requirements; communicating requirements effectively to component vendors.

Two (2) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

- EMI/RFI conformance engineering; using software tools for simulation throughout the development process; experience with digital and analog circuit design and theories; and experience with advanced modeling, simulation and analysis tools

- Schematic capture and PCB layout tool Cadence and circuit simulation tool LTspice or Pspice

- Accelerated life testing and designing products with long life in harsh conditions, electric utility practices and product requirements.

Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of experience in product development role in lieu of a Master’s degree plus five (3) years of experience.

40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm.
