The Wind Fleet Electrical team is searching for an engineering candidate to assist with operating and maintaining NextEra Energy Resources wind turbine generators and power distribution cables. The candidate should possess 3-5 years of experience specifically in working with large motors and/or generators across design, manufacturing, and/or field environments.
- Strong understanding of the principles and operation of electrical rotating machines, including electromagnetic theory and machine dynamics.
- Ability to diagnose issues and implement solutions for generator systems, using diagnostic tools such as Vibration Monitoring, Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA, ESA), and endoscopic inspections.
- Familiarity with materials and techniques used in the construction of rotating electrical machines and the manufacturing processes involved.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards for Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Familiarity and experience with Root Cause Analysis
- Experience with writing repair, operations, and/or maintenance procedures and specifications
- Capability to translate and communicate financial and technical business cases to gain leadership approval
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables
- Data driven decision making skills
- Ability to relate to Field Service Personnel to provide adequate technical supportPrevious experience with wind generation desired but not required.
- Engineering Degree and 5+ years of experiences
- Estimated travel 20% to wind sites and vendor shops

The team supports the operation and maintenance of 14000+ Wind Turbines across North America from headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The goal of the Electrical Wind Fleet team is to increase uptime of the fleet and decrease operation and maintenance costs.
This job interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments. Employees in the role plan and develop technical projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have important impact on major company programs. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas for investigation, and development of novel concepts. Individuals in the role act as a technical liaison to individuals within and outside their organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to the individual's field. Employee's assignments are given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations.
- Provides full-time technical support to the operations and business unit personnel
- Performs system testing and documentation to critical systems during significant changes and/or upgrade
- Analyzes and identifies the root cause of - and implements comprehensive technical solutions to - complex application deficiencies and system issues
- Provides technical leadership in the functional specification, design and implementation of new (as well as enhancements to existing) security center applications and tools
- Develops new (and improves existing) processes with goal of increasing productivity, reducing risk of system failure, promoting efficiency in work flow, and meeting or exceeding the key operational performance targets
- Establishes, documents and maintains procedures and guidelines related to the day-to-day operational support provided to the operations and business unit personnel
- Travels to power plants for onsite troubleshooting support
