General Summary:
Centrus Energy Corp. seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our corporate headquarters’ team under a hybrid work schedule. The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in supporting the quarterly income tax provision process and the preparation of the company’s consolidated federal and state income tax returns. This position will collaborate closely with others in the accounting group and across the organization to gather and analyze information relevant to income tax, property tax, sales tax, and other tax matters. The Senior Tax Accountant will utilize OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax systems and contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of the company’s tax processes. This role reports directly to the Director, Tax, and they will work collaboratively on all company tax responsibilities.
Essential Functions of the Job:
•Assist in the preparation of ASC740 quarterly income tax provision calculations, including the analysis of permanent and temporary differences, utilizing OneSource Tax Provision.
•Maintain deferred tax asset and liability schedules and prepare supporting documentation.
•Contribute to the preparation of tax disclosures and footnotes for quarterly and annual reports (Form 10-Q and 10-K).
•Assist in responding to inquiries from the external tax audit team related to the quarterly and annual income tax provisions.
•Prepare tax journal entries and assist with quarterly tax account reconciliations.
•Assist in the preparation of consolidated federal and state income tax returns using OneSource Income Tax, including the development of supporting workpapers.
•Prepare personal property and franchise tax returns.
•Collaborate with accounting fixed asset personnel to update fixed assets for Oracle Fusion Cloud tax books on a monthly basis.
•Prepare monthly sales tax determinations and calculations.
•Assist in the preparation of quarterly estimated federal and state income tax payments.
•Conduct research on basic federal and state tax issues and document findings as needed.
•Support the maintenance of SOX tax controls by executing assigned key tax controls and assisting in the preparation of documentation updates.
•Work collaboratively with accounting and FP&A personnel and others to understand business operations and gather essential data for tax adjustments and filings.
•Assist in the forecasting of cash taxes and tax accruals in collaboration with FP&A personnel.
•Contribute to the identification of tax savings and system improvement opportunities.
•Perform other duties and complete special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
•CPA candidate or CPA license preferred.
•3+ years of corporate federal and state income tax experience in a public company environment, including experience with quarterly and annual reporting deadlines.
•Solid understanding of ASC740.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax applications, with the ability to learn new applications quickly.
•Experience with sales and use tax reporting is a plus.
•Familiarity with SOX tax controls and process documentation.
•A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
•Strong attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset with the ability to identify issues.
•Demonstrated ability to research and document basic federal and state tax issues.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
•Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
•Good verbal and written communication skills.
•The candidate must meet the requirements of 10 CFR 810 and 10 CFR 1017 to access export-controlled information and unclassified controlled nuclear information.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s Degree in Taxation.
•Familiarity with Oracle Fusion Cloud report inquiry and Tax Fixed Assets Module maintenance.
•Experience with Checkpoint Research Application.
•Experience in both corporate and public accounting.
Pay:
Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $79,369 - $97,266. Bonus eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
