SUMMARY:
Supports Company's insurance, claim services, credit risk and enterprise risk management.. Ensures that management has the necessary information for key decision making to ensure the adequacy of insurance coverages, appropriate handling of claims, credit risk monitoring and approvals and the ERM program..
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares applications for new and renewal of insurance policies; prepares analysis for critical decision making for new/ changes in insurance coverage and/or limits
Reviews new and existing insurance policies and bonds for accuracy; maintains policies and coverage information for internal and external customers
Interprets insurance coverage for internal and external customers
Prepares reserve analysis for workers compensation, auto liability and general liability
Provides data and supporting documentation for internal, external and policy audits
Serve as Risk Management team backup for internal customers for reporting of potential liability claims to appropriate claim handling entity
Coordinates and facilitates reporting of property claims, gathering of supporting documentation and communication with carriers
Assists with compiling of data needed for actuarial analysis; reviews, interprets and communicates results of actuarial analysis
Analyzes claims history and loss control reports for trends and inconsistencies; prepares budget, allocation and amortization schedules for all insurance and claim costs
Coordinates and participates in site visits with carriers
Review certificates of insurance and contracts for proper indemnification; provides internal and external customers with certificates of insurance
Provides support for multiple annual ERM processes under the direction of the Director of Corporate Risk and in consultation with senior management and leaders across all TXNM Energy Business Units
Provides support for multiple credit risk processes under the direction of the Director of Corporate Risk and in consultation with various Business Units
COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of and experience with accounting and financial analysis
Strong analytical skills particularly those suitable for risk assessments and strategic risk mitigation planning, i.e., ability to frame options related to business risk and issues and independently develop details and analysis
Knowledge of electric, transmission and customer service practices and technical operations as they pertain to insurable risks, claims management, credit risks and ERM
Strong project management skills
Knowledge of the gas and electric utility industry and claim handling best practices
General knowledge of federal and state laws such as utility commission rules in applicable states, National Electric Safety Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, and other utility industry codes or rules as they apply to claims processing
Strong accounting and finance skills
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in accounting, finance, risk management or insurance with five to seven years commercial insurance or corporate risk management experience, or equivalent combination of education and/ or experience related to the discipline.
Knowledge of insurable risk modeling, credit risk and analysis is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a current, legally valid driver license and meet Company driving record requirements.
ARM designation is preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to difficult questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, database, presentation, and word processing software
Ability to create and maintain databases
Ability to work with a Risk Management Information System
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
