Description:
Perform a lead role in substation design, preparing specifications, or field engineering for assigned engineering projects under the supervision of your immediate supervisor or another designated professional engineer. You must be proficient in using various power system software tools needed for protection and control system engineering. Additionally, you should understand basic and advanced power system calculation methodologies, terminology, and techniques. Previous experience with our client, Georgia Transmission Company (GTC), or Southern Companies is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Design of engineered systems of the largest size and highest complexity. Activities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
•Monitor project construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Serve as Resident Engineer on projects of any scale. Interpret complex plans and specifications, applying available information to meet all project design requirements. Stay familiar with relevant engineering and construction codes and ensure compliance with them. Prepare and/or oversee construction schedules to guarantee timely project completion. Implement and manage changes to the work as needed due to differing site conditions. Conduct on-site design or investigation work to verify the adequacy of methods. Receive, evaluate, and approve contractor invoices. Receive and inspect equipment for installation on the project and authorize payment. Prepare reports and feasibility studies for submission to management.
•Serve as a project engineer or project manager for assigned projects.
•Encourage the efficient flow of information and ensure thorough and accurate record keeping.
•Understand the Client/Company’s drawing system, design and construction standards, and relevant industry codes and practices.
•Perform on-site design or investigation work to verify the adequacy of the contractor’s methods.

Position Requirements:
•Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred) or in a related field from an accredited university.
•Professional engineering license required.
•8 to 10 years of experience in engineering-related projects.
•Prior work experience with our client, Georgia Transmission Company (GTC), or Southern Companies, is preferred.
•A strong understanding of industry and national codes and standards, including but not limited to NESC, NFPA 70 (NEC), and IEEE standards.
•Experience with system design software, CAD, and Microsoft Office products is required.
•Strong analytical and management skills
•Experience with relay settings and configuration.
•Experience with power systems software packages, including Cape, Aspen One-liner, SKM, and ETAP, is highly desired.
•Willing to travel for site surveys, project scope walks, and meetings.
