As part of our continuous pursuit of excellence, we’re seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager with utility infrastructure experience to oversee all aspects of SGC Survey Projects. The SPM will play a pivotal role in ensuring project success by orchestrating costs, schedules, communication, billing, closeout, and more. Drawing from their extensive understanding of the Survey/Geospatial industry, the SPM will skillfully guide the Project Team, composed of project management team members, licensed surveyors, survey field leads, and drafting leads, to deliver projects within scope, on schedule, and on budget.
Compensation is based upon experience. This role will have the ability to sit remote.
Responsibilities of the Sr. Project Manager:
•Resource Coordination and Management: Collaborate with office Project Managers to establish resource schedules, monitor project progress, and manage project budgets.
•Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to office Project Managers, educating them on the SGC process and best practices.
•Resource Allocation: Ensure a comprehensive grasp of project requirements, spanning client, industry, and government expectations. Match team members with roles that align with project scope, schedule, and budget.

Schedule Oversight: Develop project plans, schedule meetings, and assign tasks.

Effective Communication: Foster productive dialogues with Client PMs, subcontractors, and Business Development through calls, meetings, and action item follow-up. Maintain rigorous management reporting and project software updates.

Cross-Divisional Support: Facilitate seamless project transitions between operating divisions.

Financial Stewardship: Manage various aspects of project accounting, encompassing timecard review, invoicing, and financial status reports.

Project Closeout: Facilitate lessons learned and oversee accounting invoice closeout.
•Business Development: Play a pivotal role in supporting business development endeavors and take the lead in proposal preparation.
•Client Relations: Cultivate professional relationships with clients, project team members, and internal/external stakeholders.
•Leadership and Training: Set an example of leadership through knowledge-sharing and skills demonstration. Contribute to training, development, annual appraisals, and supervision of divisional employees as necessary.
•Financial Objectives: Maintain target billable goals and actively participate in process improvement initiatives to fulfill divisional and company objectives.
•Mentoring and Networking: Offer professional development and mentorship to staff while maintaining a valuable network of relationships within the field.
•Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies, practices, and procedures to ensure a secure work environment.
•Technical Direction: Plan fieldwork phases of projects by utilizing existing information and adhering to SGC's mapping and boundary standard operating procedures.
•Quality Assurance: Uphold QA/QC procedures and standards to guarantee accurate and comprehensive information for report and plan production.
•Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Tackle additional duties as assigned.
Requirements of the Sr. Project Manager:
•Bachelor’s degree in a Land Surveying or Geospatial Science Field, in addition to a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in general civil design and project management; OR an equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
•Experience working on utility infrastructure projects
•Proficiency in computer applications and functions, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet).
•Strong grasp of project profitability and its integral role in SGC's success.
•Competence in spreadsheets, database, and word-processing applications, including Microsoft Project and Smartsheet.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with outstanding interpersonal abilities.
•Demonstrated skill in persuasion, negotiation, and critical issue resolution.
•Aptitude for conducting critical negotiations and handling controversial issues.
•Ability to prepare and interpret financial reports related to project profitability and spending.
•Effective written and oral communication with project teams, management, staff, and clients/stakeholders.
•Capability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
•Self-reliance in executing responsibilities with minimal supervision.
•Strong collaboration with all survey team members, with the foresight to anticipate project demands and resolve arising issues.
•Willingness to travel and work extended hours for project assignments and meetings.
•Proven track record of handling diverse project types within land surveying, utilities, civil design, construction layout, boundary resolution, etc.
•Preferred experience in natural gas projects.
•Professional Land Surveyor licensure is preferred but not required.
