POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic individual to join the Grid & Energy Services (G&ES) team as Manager or Senior Manager of Energy Strategy & Financial Analysis. This role will be central in evaluating the financial viability and strategic value of new energy initiatives—including battery projects, enterprise customer-focused microgrids, and clean energy platform services. The ideal candidate will combine robust financial modeling skills with deep market understanding and analytical rigor to support go-to-market strategy, strategic planning, and execution. This position will also support in-depth market intelligence efforts, competitive benchmarking, and executive reporting to inform key business decisions.
This position will be based out of Irvine, San Francisco or Santa Clara, CA
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Build and maintain detailed financial models for PV+ESS, ESS-only, and microgrid projects serving C&I and enterprise customers, with focus on IRR, NPV, cash flow, and break-even analyses.
•Conduct end-to-end economic and financial evaluations for distributed battery deployments and data center-related clean energy services, directly supporting executive investment decisions.
•Design and assess utility-facing VPP program business models, including Off-taker structures and financing concepts, and evaluate financial viability.
•Develop incentive program frameworks, analyzing optimal customer compensation levels to balance program economics and market competitiveness.
•Support pro forma analysis for new offerings contributing directly to GTM and commercialization.
•Conduct deep-dive market research on DER and grid services markets, emerging business models, ISO market evolution, and competitive landscape.
•Synthesize insights from CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, and NYISO markets to inform pricing, participation, and development strategies.
•Create and present executive-level reports, investment memos, and strategic recommendation decks for internal and external stakeholders.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with business development, operations, legal, and finance teams to translate modeling and strategy into action.
•Support long-term planning, strategic goal setting, and corporate development initiatives within the G&ES roadmap.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field
•5–10 years of experience in financial modeling, business case analysis, or strategic planning in clean energy, DER, energy storage, or utility-scale energy services
•Proven end-to-end experience in C&I scale battery project economics, simulation, and modeling that directly influenced investment or go/no-go decisions
•Strong understanding of U.S. energy markets, especially ISO-level market mechanisms across CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, and NYISO
•Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and in-depth market research and competitor benchmarking
•Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to prepare executive-level strategic presentations and business reports
•Strong logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Prior experience in DER monetization, utility program development, and energy incentive design
•Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SQL or Power BI
•Experience in investment due diligence or execution related to equity investments, project finance, or M&A is a strong plus
•Background in management consulting or strategic investment roles highly valued

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide.
