The Sr. Laboratory Technician position reports directly to the Country Manager. Responsible for assisting in coordination and scheduling of lab analyses. Responsible for performing laboratory testing as and when required. Responsible for quality control of laboratory data and generation of lab reports for issuance to clients. Responsible for ensuring that client deadlines are met.
- Read and understand all analysis and safety standards in English, including ASTM, GPA, API, UOP, IP and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
- Must comply with safety responsibilities explained in the Safety Responsibility Policy (CA-ADMR-S24).
- Maintain a safe, clean efficient workplace, and must ensure that all safety infractions are addressed in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance with the Health, Safety, and Quality Management Systems requirements.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the MS, including improvement of performance and reduction of nonconformities.
- Set up and operate various types of laboratory equipment to successfully complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain, calibrate and perform equipment repairs to ensure the equipment is functioning in the most efficient and accurate manner possible.
- Must ensure that an adequate stock of supplies is maintained.
- Must identify equipment and laboratory needs to promote the continuity of operations.
- Perform specialized tests and calculations on gas, oil, water and other samples to derive accurate data necessary to compile reports concerning sample analysis for distribution to company clients.
- Assist in training and development of lower-level technicians in the performance of advanced tests.
- Demonstrate the ability to efficiently interface and communicate with clients regarding the set-up of projects and the relevance, validity, and application of analytical testing performed and data generated.
- Provide technical expertise, training and support to other laboratory personnel, dictated by their analytical scope, as required.
- Review data and calculations to assure accurate analytical results. Enter data into Core Laboratories GCLIMS and ensure analytical requirements are met.
- Perform appropriate quality control and quality assurance requirements to ensure accurate analytical results.
- Perform other assigned duties to ensure that projects are completed on an accurate and time basis, including organizing the workload to accommodate for the completion of prioritized analysis, and relaying the status of such analyses to laboratory coordinators.
- Respond to on call situations after normal working hours, as required.
- Perform special projects as required or requested by superiors.
- When requested by superiors, coordinate the activities of a section or sections of the Fluids Laboratory to ensure that projects are completed on an accurate and timely basis.
- In this event, this senior position is responsible for the distribution and scheduling of laboratory work to provide the most effective and timely output of projects
- And, responsible for turnaround time in the laboratory to ensure client’s requirements are met or exceeded.
- As assigned by superiors, this role is responsible to ensure all clients are contacted prior to any work being commenced in the lab, if no prior client contact has been made to indicate analysis and timing.
- As assigned by superiors, this role is responsible along with the supervisor to contact all clients whose reports will not meet the arranged turnaround time and inform of new turnaround time.
- Responsible for administrative functions within the Fluids Group:
- Report preparation and set-up, data verification, service report, etc.
- Responsible to verify the accuracy of data and calculations to provide quality control of results.
- This role is authorized to send preliminary and final reports to client and testers.
- This role is authorized to ask other laboratory technicians to repeat test if results are questionable.
- It is required that the person in this role is knowledgeable in Core Laboratories QA/QC procedures, General Operating Procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- As required, the person in this role needs to interact with clients to provide technical information or relate the status of projects. The intent is that no call goes unanswered.
- Must be skilled in Core Laboratories services and analysis and be familiar with their theory and application.
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- Five years of related experience and/or training preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

- Laboratory Technicians must meet the following physical qualifications.
- Be able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea. When such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).

- This position resides within a normal office working environment. International travel will be required.
