Develop and maintain SPR Fire Protection Program Policy and Procedures. Monitor and evaluate site inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including review of reports/forms/checklists against applicable codes, standards, policies and procedures. Provide surveillance and inspection of Elmwood Complex buildings, GSA Warehouse, and Stennis Warehouse for compliance with requirements of the SPR Fire Protection Program. Support Engineering Directorate during fire protection related projects, identify and communicate acceptable codes and standards related to the construction of fire protection systems, and participate in conflict resolution. Perform duties as M&O Fire Protection Program SME, including providing support to site FP/EMS, Maintenance, and others, during development, review, revision, and performance of fire protection system maintenance. Work as part of team to administer the SPR Emergency Preparedness Compliance Program, including development and conduct of Organizational Assessments of Emergency Preparedness Programs at SPR facilities. Ensure efficient execution of Fire Protection Program technical assessments as required by the DOE. Mobilize as part of a team prior to/during incidents requiring evacuation from the New Orleans office, or requiring site incident management support. Duties may include assisting with remote SPR command post set up and operations, assisting with communications, performing damage assessment, and coordinating with government agencies on evacuation, sheltering, , and public infrastructure issues. Ensure timely reporting of fire protection program activities, assessments, and technical evaluations, as required by the DOE. Acquire and maintain technical reference materials needed to ensure Fire Protection Program compliance with DOE. Provides SME support to Emergency Preparedness in the areas of emergency management, emergency response, and fire protection during: daily operations, PREP exercises, ERT academies, and real-world emergencies. Works as part of a team to develop and maintain subcontract language that clearly describes Fire Protection Program requirements for subcontractors performing work on the SPR.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in fire prevention, fire protection engineering, fire protection, fire service, or related field and 7 years experience OR HS Diploma/GED and 15 years experience in fire prevention, fire protection, or related field. Proficiency in performance of fire prevention inspections and testing of fire systems and equipment is essential. Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards and in the equipment and techniques used to control and extinguish flammable liquid and pressurized gas fires is necessary.
