Sr. Distribution Engineer
Position Overview:
KDM Engineering is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Distribution Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of utility infrastructure projects—ranging from new installations to upgrades of existing systems—on client distribution networks. You will play a key role in producing construction drawings, equipment layouts, and bills of materials, while also coordinating directly with construction crews, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
This position requires a strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, project management capabilities, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•Develop and review utility distribution designs, including construction drawings, layout plans, and equipment specifications.
•Create and maintain bills of materials for assigned projects.
•Collaborate with field teams, clients, and internal departments to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
•Interpret customer-provided documentation, including one-line diagrams, load letters, architectural, structural, and electrical drawings.
•Support project lifecycle from initiation to construction with an emphasis on accuracy and quality.
•Adapt to evolving project requirements, managing multiple tasks across teams and platforms.
•Apply engineering principles to evaluate design challenges and propose effective solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
•5-7 years of experience in electric utility distribution engineering
•Solid understanding of power engineering theories, electrical distribution systems, and industry practices
•Experience reviewing and analyzing technical documentation and design packages
•Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of TED software is a plus
•Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills
•Effective written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
•Self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
•Prior experience with Georgia Power Company is a strong plus
Additional Requirements:
•Must pass pre-employment screening, including drug testing, reference checks, and background verification
•Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.
•Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle required for fielding
•In-Office position location: Metro Georgia area
