Distribution Engineer I

Position Overview

This is an exempt entry level Distribution Engineer position performing electrical and civil engineering duties for the T&D Engineering Department of the Grand River Dam Authority as assigned by the Sr. Manager, T&D Engineering.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Manager, Powerline Engineering or designated supervisor.

SUPERVISED PERSONNEL: Normally does not supervise any other positions. May assume specific temporary supervisory duties for certain project functions and/or training duties.

This is an entry level Distribution Engineer position:

+ Coordinates the creation of scopes of work for engineering and construction contractors. o Perform electrical analysis for voltage drop, fault current, power factor, etc. in a timely manner. + Perform physical analysis for power line sag and stress in a timely manner. + Develop data sheets and specifications for equipment. + Supports the bidding process for engineering and construction services. + Performs engineering analysis, calculations, design, studies, and other duties associated with maintaining, constructing, and operating electrical power distribution line facilities. + Creates specifications; prepares bid documents; evaluates bids received; prepares and presents reports and recommendations as required for purchase of materials, equipment, services, and miscellaneous items associated with high electrical power distribution lines and other assigned projects.
