Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting, the Senior Manager, Accounting will serve a key role as a member of the finance & accounting team. The position will be primarily responsible for overseeing the daily accounting activities as well as preparing and maintaining entity level and consolidated financial statements and reports for the company. This role will be instrumental in the provision of audit support and play a key role during acquisitions and/or divestitures. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting within energy or tangential sectors, and thrives in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment with complex capital structures. The position has leadership responsibilities including the supervision of direct reports.
- Accurate and timely completion of monthly accounting close.
- Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial reports and statements.
- Preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, and footnotes, for various issuing entities.
- Manage the company’s internal reporting processes, ensuring proper controls over financial reporting are maintained.
- Support strategic transactions including asset acquisitions, divestitures, and refinancing efforts by managing due diligence and post-transaction integration.
- Facilitate and coordinate the necessary deliverables for the external auditor’s annual audits.
- Maintain and drive compliance with AlphaGen’s accounting policies and procedures.
- Conduct research and analysis on technical accounting issues, including analysis of newly issued/proposed accounting standards, to provide appropriate, proper accounting treatment for transactions and safeguard AlphaGen’s internal financial and accounting controls.
- Lead and develop the current team, fostering growth, accountability, and collaboration.
- Provide oversight of accounts payable.
- Assist in preparing information to support tax filings.
- Perform ad hoc projects and conduct financial analysis as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, a masters degree is preferred.
- CPA is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of accounting and financial reporting experience, with 3+ years of leadership experience in managing direct reports.- Prior work history that includes experience from a Big 4 accounting firm is preferential.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting, including generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience with SEC reporting.
- Experience with derivatives/accounting for hedging activities.
- Must demonstrate exceptionally strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize.
- Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage several projects simultaneously.
- Position requires professional written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships.
- Experience implementing ERP/Accounting systems.
- Experience in the energy industry is preferential.
