The Specialist, Laboratory QA is responsible for supporting the Quality Assurance function at the Central Laboratory, including the review of analytical data packages, method audit and certification activity.
- Oversee and enforce quality control methodologies to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Ensure data accuracy, reliability and adherence to drinking water methods through the validation process.
- Perform internal audits, develop and implement corrective actions and investigate nonconforming events.
- Lead training sessions to promote compliance and quality excellence.
- Review and approve laboratory certifications, quality control records and laboratory documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (e.g., fluency in report writing and presentations).
- Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., persuasion, negotiation, listening, cooperation, tact, diplomacy, problem solving, internal consulting)
- Strong project management skills (e.g. planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and reporting on project activities, managing concurrent projects).
- Sound business acumen and judgment.
- Effective quantitative and analytical skills; attention to detail.
- Knowledge of laboratory regulations and requirements, preferably in drinking water.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field. Equivalent role-related work experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
- 3+ years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree or 9+ years’ experience without a bachelor’s degree in quality assurance or relevant experience in the water industry or environmental laboratoryJoin American Water...We Keep Life Flowing™
