Job Summary/Purpose
Perform Cathodic Protection Surveys within time and budget guidelines and according to Office of Pipeline (OPS) Safety Requirements
Accountabilities And Essential Functions
- Perform Cathodic Protection Survey and Atmospheric Corrosion Surveys and document completely and accurately using paper and electronic media.
- Utilize Gas Electronic Systems: Delta Utilities’ work management software, GIS, Microsoft programs etc. to help plan, schedule and document surveys.
- Assist with the evaluation and replacement of Cathodic Protection facilities (rectifiers, ground beds, and anode systems)
- Perform pipeline coating maintenance work (coating removal, pipe remediation, re-coating)
- Perform continuing surveillance of pipeline facilities and fill out appropriate forms for remedial action.
- Install pipeline markers as required.
- Assist other work groups in pinpointing leaks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the Gas Operations group
- Properly document work performed either electronically or manually that is susceptible to frequent PHMSA audits.
- Utilize company software programs to monitor for compliance follow on work orders and ensure compliance with work order commit dates with Operations team
- Actively participate and produce documentation for PHMSA CFR192 audits to ensure zero citations
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position- 2+ years of gas industry or relevant experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred Of The Position
- Ability to read and understand mapping systems
- Demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities on specific covered task of the position for the purpose of complying with Department of Transportation, Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration.
- Fundamental knowledge of Cathodic Protection principles and/or fundamental background in electricity/electronics and/or chemistry
- Must possess ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies used in Cathodic Protection and leak survey functions.
- Knowledge of Company Safety and Work policies
- Knowledge of Pipeline Safety Regulations 49 CFR Part 192 related to corrosion control and leak survey
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to obtain Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) certification.
- Fluency in using Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Ability to learn new computer-based tools.
- Ability to operate various electronic / technical equipment and instruments
- Have and maintain a current/valid driver's license
- Must be able to submit to and pass random DOT drug testing program
- Work extended hours as needed.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card
- Be able to work alone or with a partner efficiently and demonstrate the ability to route and plan work day-to-day in an optimized manner.
- Be able to accurately complete a timesheet.
- Knowledge of pipeline safety regulations
- Active participation in industry and professional organizations
- Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Certification
- Knowledge of gas pipeline construction and installation techniques
Any Certificates, Licenses, Etc. Required For The Position
- Valid driver’s license required
- Preferred: Must reside within 45 road miles of the reporting location.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle, including the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
- Able to perform on-site inspections.
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
- Able to exert up to 50 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.

- Able to wear and operate personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs daily.
- Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions.
- May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
