1. The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude and includes the following: a) getting along with co-workers, b) cooperating with co-workers, d) working as a team member, e) functioning under intense time pressure, f) responding in a positive manner to supervision.
2. Familiar with and can safely operate any Cooperative-owned line truck, underground trencher, digger derrick, backhoe, winch and other special equipment.
3. Drives, operates and maintains assigned line truck and special equipment. Prior to equipment operation each day inspects and checks tires, lights, signals, brakes, horn, wipers, safety equipment, and all fluids.
4. Inspects truck and trailer for proper safe loading and binding prior to driving or operating.
5. Maintains an adequate supply of materials, tools, safety equipment, and first aid supplies on the equipment at all times.
6. Practices good housekeeping habits at the job site, around equipment and at all Cooperative properties.
7. Assists with the construction and maintenance of distribution and service lines and equipment.
8. Stays familiar with and observes all safety rules as set forth in the Cooperative Safety Manual.
9. Be able to lift and walk on rough terrain and to work and drive in all types of weather.
Position requires a high school diploma or GED. Prior experience operating heavy equipment is preferred. Individual must be computer literate. Must live in Rutherford-Polk district and have a valid NC driver’s license, with a good driving record and the ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License. In this position, may be called upon to work any hour on an as needed basis.
