Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled laboring tasks. Will participate in daily assembly and delivery and the receipt and inventory of all containers and associated parts, and operating equipment necessary in the delivery and disposal of containers. Wash and clean used carts and containers.

Education and Experience Guidelines- Below is a summary of the minimum educational qualification requirements for position of Solid Waste Field Technician.
Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED. Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish)
Experience: Six (6) months of heavy manual work and experience which provides skill in the use of tools such as air compressors, air wrenches, impact wrenches, electric drills, and other hand tools. One (1) year experience operating one-ton pick-ups.
· Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state and must have an acceptable driving record.

Environment: This position functions in bothindoor and outdoor environments due to the nature of the District’s business and various work locations. Travel from site to site will be required. May be exposed to noise, dust, and inclement weather conditions. Frequent exposure to moving machinery and equipment, hazardous chemicals, uneven terrain, extreme weather conditions, animals, reptiles, fumes, and materials common to collection, transportation, and disposal of solid waste, recycling, and hazardous materials. Occasional exposure to hostile customers or citizens.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a professional office andfield environment; to stand, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and walk on uneven terrain, loose soil, and sloped surfaces; to lift and/or carry light weights up to 50lbs; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various locations; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: Must be able tosee in the normal visual range, with or without corrective devices. Must be able to read.
Hearing: Must be abletohear in the normal audio range, with or without corrective devices.
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Personal Protective Equipment Required: Required to comply with requirements as specified in regulations for personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety vest, eye protection, safety gloves, face mask, and steel-toe shoes.
