We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Lead Project Manager – Solar Operations to coordinate residential and commercial solar projects from post-sale onboarding through final commissioning. This role requires exceptional communication skills, strong technical understanding of solar installations, and the ability to manage dozens of active clients while keeping projects moving smoothly through utilities, engineering, permitting, and installation.
The Lead Project Manager will be the primary point of contact for clients after the sale, guiding them through onboarding calls, scheduling site surveys, managing documentation, addressing technical questions, resolving issues, and ensuring a seamless customer experience. You’ll work closely with installers, designers, engineers, utilities, and internal departments to keep timelines on track and delivery flawless.

- Conduct onboarding calls with new solar clients, explaining the full project workflow from site survey to commissioning
- Serve as the main day-to-day point of contact for all customer questions, concerns, and updates throughout the project
- Manage expectations clearly and proactively, ensuring clients always know the next step
- Schedule site surveys, engineering appointments, electrical assessments, and installation dates
- Coordinate between design teams, engineers, installers, utilities, and permitting authorities
- Ensure all required documentation is collected and submitted (utility bills, NMI/meter photos, loan docs, microgeneration applications, etc.)
- Read and understand solar system designs, single-line diagrams, engineering packages, and equipment specifications
- Work with design and install teams to ensure system layout accuracy and compliance with local codes
- Track project progress using platforms such as ProCore, Monday.com, Aurora Solar, Google Workspace, or similar project management tools
- Handle after-sale service questions such as monitoring inquiries, inverter connectivity issues, shading concerns, microgen delays, installation questions, and homeowner follow-ups
- Troubleshoot client concerns quickly and identify whether the issue is internal, installer-related, or utility-related
- Prepare status reports, risk assessments, and timelines for internal teams and stakeholders
- Monitor project timelines closely to prevent slowdowns or unnecessary delays
- Coordinate procurement of materials when required; confirm equipment availability with vendors or warehouse staff
- Maintain a strong feedback loop with installers and management to improve processes and customer experience
- Proven experience in solar project management, residential energy systems, or related construction/utility coordination
- Deep understanding of solar installation workflows—site surveys, engineering, microgeneration/net-metering submissions, permitting, installation, and commissioning
- Proficiency with solar and construction management tools such as:
- ProCore
- Aurora Solar
- Bluebeam
- Monday.com / ClickUp
- CRM tools (e.g., Close, HubSpot, Salesforce)
- Strong ability to read and interpret solar designs, electrical diagrams, layouts, and engineering documents
- Exceptional communication skills, both with customers and internal teams
- Demonstrated ability to manage high project volume while maintaining accuracy and customer satisfaction
- Experience handling escalations, problem-solving, and guiding clients through technical or utility challenges
- Familiarity with contracts, utility requirements, and solar financing programs is preferred
