Reporting to the Superintendent, the Solar Installer is responsible for conducting safe installations of racking and solar panels on residential and commercial rooftops. The Solar Installer will support in the placement and connection of electrical wiring from panels to inverters and combiners. As Solar Installer, you will be responsible for learning the RMSC way and ensuring the work is done to the highest quality and within scope of the project.
Additional Responsibilities
•Confirmation of calculations for rail lengths
•Plan layout and installation of racking and panels
•Placement and installation of Soladeck and home run junction boxes
•Assisting in the placement and installation of combiners, inverters, disconnects
•Learning stages of bending and running conduit from array to combiner/inverter
•Pulling wires and conduit from roof to service panels and understanding wire placements
•Stringing all types of microinverters
•Assist with the commissioning of solar systems once work installation is completed
•Learning the placement of all stickers and labels
•Support the installation, upgrading and swapping of sub-service and main service panels
•Assist in commissioning of solar systems once work installation is completed
Qualifications
•Must be able to work at heights and safely lift up to 50lbs in various outdoor weather conditions
•Ability to safely and competently work with electricity across a variety of solar systems
•Competent knowledge of solar layouts and solar system installation
•Working knowledge of federal and provincial electrical codes and regulations
•Ability to troubleshoot and provide creative problem-solving solutions in fast paced environment
•Effectively communicating clear and concise messaging to labourers and crew leads
•Basic digital software skills required
•Enrollment in an electrical apprenticeship program is preferred
•Minimum 1 year work experience as an electrical helper and/or solar labourer
