WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking a Site Surveyor & Permit Runner with a strong technical foundation, outstanding organizational skills, and a passion for solar energy. You’ll play a crucial role in setting our projects up for success by ensuring accurate site data, thorough documentation, and seamless permit handling.

The ideal candidate thrives in the field, works independently, and knows how to bring professionalism and attention to detail to every customer interaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but are not limited to):

- Conduct comprehensive site surveys for residential and commercial solar and energy storage installations across Greater Los Angeles and Orange County

- Accurately measure roof and property dimensions, identify obstructions, and assess site feasibility

- Gather electrical data (Main Service Panels, sub panels, conduit paths, etc.)

- Take detailed photographs and documentation for use in design and permitting

- Identify potential safety concerns (bad roofs, structural limitations, fall risks, etc.)

- Assess roof quality and anchor points for installation planning

- Perform shading analysis using appropriate tools or software

- Run over-the-counter (OTC) permits and interface with local municipalities

- Attend jobsite inspections and utility appointments as needed

- Coordinate closely with project managers and internal teams to ensure data accuracy

- Represent Treepublic with outstanding customer service and professionalism

- Participate in staff meetings and assist with broader company initiatives

- Travel within service areas and occasionally to out-of-town sites

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 2 years of experience in solar site surveying, installation, or service (residential AND commercial)

- Experience with permitting, working with AHJs, and attending inspections

- Knowledge of major solar and energy storage systems (Enphase, SolarEdge, SunPower, etc.)

- Strong understanding of roof structures, mounting requirements, and electrical systems

- Comfortable working at heights and on all major roof types

- Must be able to carry 50 lbs, climb two-story ladders, and work outdoors in variable conditions

- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

- Proficient with basic technology tools (smartphones, tablets, survey software, cloud storage)

- Excellent communication, time management, and organization skills

- Clean Class C driver’s license and reliable transportation

- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

- OSHA 10 or 30 certification

- FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot License

- Experience conducting drone surveys

- Background in energy storage systems (ESS) and installation

- Multilingual a plus (especially Spanish)
