Senior Service Engineer – Site Engineer - BESS & Power Plant Support, Energy Business

The Wärtsilä Energy Business – St. Thomas, USVI team has a vacancy for a Site Engineer – BESS & Power Plant Support.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a technically skilled and adaptable Site Engineer to support the daily operations and light maintenance of a Wärtsilä GridSolv Max battery energy storage system (BESS), while also providing secondary support to co-located Wärtsilä 32 and 34 engine-based power plants. This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in electrical systems and a willingness to contribute across both renewable and thermal energy platforms.

Primary Responsibilities – GridSolv Max BESS:

+ Conduct daily walkdowns and visual inspections of GridSolv Max containers. + Monitor system performance using SCADA and BMS platforms. + Identify and report system anomalies or alarms.

+ Perform and schedule routine maintenance on HVAC units, fire suppression systems, and power distribution panels. + Replace fuses, inspect battery racks, and ensure all safety systems are operational.

+ Respond to minor faults and coordinate with OEM support for escalated issues. + Assist with firmware updates and system resets as needed. + Collaborate with utility personnel and contractors during site activities.

+ Maintain accurate logs of inspections, maintenance, and system events. + Ensure compliance with UL9540 and site-specific safety protocols.
