Job Description

We are looking for for a Picker to join our team here in Hamilton, Ontario from Monday-Friday starting at 6:45am.

What you're responsible for:

•

Inspect and sort metal materials, such as aluminium, copper, steel, and alloys, according to established guidelines and specifications

•

Identify and remove contaminants, non-recyclable items, and hazardous materials from the metal stream, ensuring the purity and quality of the recyclable metals

•

Separate different types of metals into designated bins or areas, following proper sorting procedures and ensuring compliance with recycling standards

•

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others

•

Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sorting stations, bins, and surrounding areas, to facilitate efficient sorting operations

•

Coordinate and communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues or concerns

•

Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and waste reduction, and provide suggestions to enhance sorting operations

•

Adhere to environmental regulations and company policies related to the handling, sorting, and disposal of metal materials

Qualifications

To join our team:

•

Previous experience in a recycling facility or a similar environment is preferred

•

Familiarity with different types of metals and their distinguishing characteristics is a plus

•

Ability to quickly and accurately identify and sort various metal materials based on visual cues and provided guidelines

•

Physical fitness and the ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods

•

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in metal sorting

•

Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate in a team environment

•

Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality

•

Willingness to adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and participate in safety training
