This is a full-time, permanent onsite role based in our Houston, TX 77041 office.
As a Shop Parts Person, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the shop and field by managing the inventory and distribution of parts necessary for repairs and maintenance. Your responsibilities will include sourcing, ordering, organizing, and distributing parts and supplies to technicians in a timely manner. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a good understanding of power generation and engine parts are essential for success in this role.
- Source parts from suppliers and vendors, ensuring the best quality and price.
- Place orders for parts, supplies, and equipment in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery.
- Inspect all parts received to make sure there is no damage and are of the quality needed
- Organize parts and maintain a clean and orderly parts room for efficient retrieval.
- Distribute parts to mechanics and technicians as requested, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist technicians with identifying and sourcing parts needed for repairs.
- Provide information regarding availability, pricing, and alternatives for parts.
- Handle inquiries and issues regarding parts orders and inventory.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Generate reports related to inventory levels, orders placed, and parts usage.
- Maintain documentation of all transactions, including invoices, receipts, and returns.
- Keep records of warranties and guarantees associated with parts.
- Report all recognized unsafe conditions or acts to management.
- Wear proper PPE when necessary.
- Attend training sessions as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent years of relevant experience and/or training
- Proven experience as a parts person, preferably in an automotive shop or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of automotive or machinery parts and their functions.
- Previous experience using inventory systems and handling parts sourcing.
