Shop helper
The shop helper is responsible for safely and efficiently conducting the daily shop assignments; including assisting experienced workers, maintaining cleanliness in the shop. This position will work closely with all of Spearhead team members to ensure all work practices below.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Load, unload, and identify materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
- Store and stack material.
- Provide support to experienced workers by helping with tasks that require manual labor and basic skills.
- Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities.
- Perform routine maintenance on shop equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Clean tools, equipment, machinery & work areas.
- Operate hand and power tools for various tasks, including assembly, disassembly and repairs.
- Responsible for cleaning and organizing the shop area, ensuring that tools and equipment are stored properly and the workspace is safe.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must have good verbal communication and the ability to follow instructions are essential for working in a team environment.
- Work is regularly performed indoors and may at times be exposed to cold or hot weather conditions near moving mechanical parts. Exposure to dust is expected.
- Exposure to high noise levels at times.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
