POSITION BACKGROUND:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for the supervision of all shop personnel, scheduling, prioritizing and assigning the resources required to ensure all work orders completed efficiently and within the specified time frame. Working with internal clients to determine required specifications for equipment maintenance work orders. The Shop Foreman will be responsible for ensuring that all top performing equipment is available to the Rentals and Project teams.
CORE DUTIES:
Daily Shop Operations
•Determine the correct type of tools/equipment to be used for a specific task
•Effectively manage, schedule and prioritize maintenance work orders and shop personnel
•Ensure that buildings, facilities and safety systems are routinely inspected and maintained
•Ensure tools and equipment are available and in good working order
•Identify faulty/damaged equipment and/or defective materials and delegate repairs
•Inspect and troubleshoot equipment for damage when returned from field, preparing equipment reports and estimated service costs as necessary
•Liaise with other Ketek departments to facilitate repairs (electrical, manufacturing)
•Mentor and assist apprentices and personnel as required
•Oversee completion of Pre-Job Safety Instructions/Job Safety and Hazard Assessments and Proactive Safety Reports
•Perform routine housekeeping duties in the shop and yard
•Utilize checklists, inspections, work procedures and safety guidelines to complete tasks
Other Duties
•Develop work procedures, forms and inspections for various Ketek equipment and systems
•Successfully complete safety training as required on an ongoing basis
•Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements
•Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment
•Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment
•Perform other related duties as required
•Perform Quality control on repaired equipment

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required
•Red Seal Journeyman certification in related discipline is prefered but not necessary (Welding, Millwright, or Electrician)
•Electrical and mechanical aptitude
•Basic MS Office skills (Excel, Word)
•Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract
•Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
•Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
•Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines
•Ability to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high-level prioritization skills
•Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
•Effective verbal and listening communication skills
Preferred
•Minimum 3 years’ experience in the oil and/or construction field
•Experience and knowledge of Ketek equipment (or similar) is prefered
•Diesel engine troubleshooting experience
•Overhead crane experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands
•Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone, stoop, and kneel
•Prolonged exposure to computer screens
•Moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required
•Use of mechanical aids: overhead crane, forklift, pallet jack, and dolly may be required
•Regular exposure to loud noises. Hearing protection is provided when needed
•Potential exposure to acetylene gas, fumes, oil, and paint residue
Work Environment
•Yard/Shop environment (100%)
•May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours
•Will be required to work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and heat
