Earle M. Jorgensen is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Clerk to support the efficient flow of goods and documentation throughout our operations in Edmonton, AB. This role is responsible for preparing and managing all shipping and receiving paperwork, coordinating with internal departments and external transport providers, and maintaining accurate documentation within our systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong time-management skills, accuracy in document handling, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Prepare and verify all outbound shipping documents including manifests, packing slips, mill test reports, and bills of lading (BOLs)
- Coordinate shipments with third-party carriers ensuring each drop/stop has complete and correct documentation
- Manage express shipments including FedEx and customs paperwork, ensuring compliance and traceability
- Prepare will-call orders, ensuring all required documents are included and accurate
- Schedule inbound and outbound freight through phone and email communications, and maintain the transport calendar
- Receive and verify incoming stock, buyouts, fabricated goods, and work orders, ensuring all documentation is complete (test reports, packing slips, BOLs, customs documents)
- Scan receiving logs, packing slips, and test reports into appropriate digital systems
- Enter log numbers into PRM for each received order
- Calculate Unit Cost Equivalent (UCE) for inbound stock from mills and vendors
- Manage last-minute document transfers between internal branches (e.g., Halifax, Toronto)
- Ensure all scanned and uploaded documents are correctly named and stored in shared folders
- Transfer applicable documents (e.g., test reports) into quality resource libraries
- Maintain and print delivery and pickup tickets, ensuring accuracy and availability for warehouse and logistics staff
- Monitor and update the Transport Grid to ensure it reflects real-time shipment data
- Respond to internal requests for packing slips, BOLs, and mill test reports in a timely and professional manner
- Process cross-dock transfers (CTs) and scan them to the correct dock (dock01, dock02, dock03)
- Ensure all uploaded files are duplicated in their appropriate shared file locations for accessibility and compliance
- Fluency in English, written and spoken word, is required
- 2+ years of experience in shipping and receiving, logistics coordination, or warehouse operations preferred- Strong attention to detail with proven document management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general file management systems
- Familiarity with PRM or equivalent logistics/order management software is preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of customs paperwork and freight documentation is considered an asset
