SHIPPING LEAD - MANUFACTURING
Job Description:
DMC POWER Inc. is a global provider of power/utility electrical connection products and associated tools. Manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA and Olive Branch, MS with numerous service center locations nationally and internationally. With increased investments in renewable energy sources, battery storage, data centers, a reconfigured power grid and associated transmission lines and substations we see many years of growth.
Responsibilities:
•The majority of time is spent on the ERP system (JD Edwards).
•Supervise team members to meet daily shipping requirements.
•Works from computer systems procedures, purchase orders, written and/or verbal instructions, established shipping procedures, methods and practices.
•Counts, weighs, and checks outgoing shipments, reports shortages, damage or obvious defects to supervisor.
•Packages, straps, weighs and labels shipments.
•Operates internal computer system to determine status and tracking of products, when necessary. Maintains records as instructed.
•Maintains established quality and quantity standards. Follows prescribed safety precautions, established company and departmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to the proper supervision. Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
•Maintains daily production and other records as required.
•Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Closely follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
•Oversees shipping and receiving staff as well as all outgoing shipments.
•Daily communication with the warehouse team to ensure inventory consistency.
•Ensure orders are completed and processed efficiently.
•Work with production team to fully understand shipping schedule with factories and creating calendar schedules when necessary.
•Frequently check and negotiate freight rates for domestic and international shipments.
•Analyze freight costs to ensure the best rates and service.
•Track shipments to ensure timely delivery.
•Process shipping labels and carton labels.
•Can fully understand the requirements for routing shipments for our clients.
•Perform additional duties as assigned.
•Back up Supervisor in their absence
Requirements:
•Must have solid computer skills. Previous manufacturing exp a plus.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Some experience with EDI and UPC
•Ability to keep up with pace to meet shipping and receiving deadlines
•Experience with shipping software, i.e. Fedex, UPS, DHL and freight forwarders etc.
•Knowledge of inventory systems preferred.
•High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
•Minimum of 2-3 years of shipping experience.
•Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
•Must be certified to drive forklifts or pass certification exam during initial trial period.
