Roles & Responsibilities of the Programmer Position:
Your role will be to convert customer CAD files and designs to precision parts by creating machine-based programs for manufacturing equipment and automation. You will interface daily with our customer-support team, production control, and manufacturing teams in the design to part workflow for precision sheet metal products, secondary machining processes, and value-added assembly. Requirements and Qualifications of this position include:
· This role is an Engineering role, reporting to the Production Manager.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints – both internal and from customers – and translate them to machine programs for Amada and Mitsubishi Punch, Laser, and Forming equipment.
· Familiarity or experience with part design CAD-based programs; fluent with SolidWorks.
· Experience with FabriWIN, AP100US, 3i Bend, 3i Punch, and MC DiamondSoft to create programs for equipment and automation. Experience with our ERP system, Epicor, would be a plus.
· Knowledge of metals and alloys used to make products. Familiarity with metal processing technologies including forming, welding, machining, plating, and coating processes.
· Create Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for parts.
· Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Solid computer skills, communication skills, mathematics and general tolerancing skills are required. SMI will invest in training the right person who wants to advance in their career.
· Other tasks may be assigned, as needed, to support business objectives. Pay will be dependent on experience and skills, ranging from $28-$34/hour.
Part time, Full time and Contract will be considered for this role.

Although our core hours are M-F 7AM-3:30PM, this position can either be an onsite, hybrid position, or mainly remote – some hours will need to be spent in the facility for training and interfacing with our Manufacturing teams that utilize the programs that you create.
