Rittmeyer has an opening for a Service Technician to cover the USA and Canada to provide product installation and after sales services.

Rittmeyer is the world leader in flowmeters for very large pipes, as well as gate position and water level instruments. Our smart instruments lend themselves to advanced applications such as penstock leak detection, environmental flow management, and other safety, environmental and efficiency application. We help our customers manage every precious drop of water and be good stewards of the environment.
Tasks:
•Installation and servicing of flowmeters at customer sites such as hydropower plants, water supply and irrigation facilities. This involves precisely locating/drilling/tapping 8-16 holes on a 5' to 30' diameter pipe or tunnel, mounting transducers then setting up the instruments.
•Planning and coordination of installation activities and involved parties at site
•Organize and oversee outside contractors including electricians, surveyors, and mechanical contractors.
•Answer service calls (service desk/1st level trouble shooting)
•Close cooperation with project management office in Switzerland
•Close cooperation with sales North America
•Represent Rittmeyer as a premium brand
•Acquire and grow service and aftersales business
•Maintain customer service log in CRM
•Manage shipment of tools across the USA/Canada border including customs and other requirements.
•Provide basic customer training on the operation and maintenance of Rittmeyer products upon completion of installation.
•Organize and maintain tool kits
•Area of work: USA and Canada
•30-40% travelling for installations and service jobs
This job will be intensive when you're on site (30-40%) and laid back when you're in your home office (60-70%).
Requirements:
•Technical service background (f.ex. instrumentation, electronics, electrics, hydrology, etc.)
•Customer oriented and service mind-set
•Systematic, precise, diligent work style
•Flexible, practical/hands-on, entrepreneurial “all-rounder”
•Self-organized, comprehensive/anticipative planner
•Experienced service technician (min. 7 years’ experience in similar position)
•Able to work at heights and in confined spaces (manholes and large pipes) – safety training and certification will be provided at Rittmeyer expense.
•Able to work in all weather conditions
•Hold or can obtain a passport for international travel (Canada and Switzerland)
•Able to work from a home office and store tool kits and supplies (approx. 1 closet size)
•Location: USA, near a major airport, preferable Portland OR, Seattle or Chicago
Advantage:
•Experience in the hydroelectric or irrigation industry
•Experience in flowmeter industry / ultrasonic transit-time methodology
•2 or 4 year technical degree
•German and French language skills
•Location: US Westcoast or near a major airport
