This position is responsible for commissioning, coordinating, performing, and overseeing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for industrial hydrogen systems, primarily electrolyzers and hydrogen storage infrastructure, at various customer sites across the United States with a requirement for international travel, particularly to United States. This is a heavy travel position (up to 100%) and requires the ability to be on-call to respond to urgent needs, ensuring customer sites maintain around-the-clock hydrogen production.
The role demands superior mechanical aptitude and deep familiarity with industrial hydrogen systems and performance. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate among cross-functional departments, leveraging field experience and data to suggest and implement design enhancements and resolve defects. This position is critical for interfacing with customer stakeholders and exceeding service expectations, thereby reinforcing the company's reputation as a leader in hydrogen fuel cell power solutions.
- Travel extensively to customer sites to perform inspection, testing, commissioning, repair, and preventative maintenance primarily on electrolyzers, hydrogen storage infrastructure, and other deployed stationary hydrogen equipment.
- Must be highly knowledgeable with the operation, troubleshooting, and controls ideology of industrial hydrogen systems and components, with a strong background in both preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Ensure all electrical work and system installations comply with applicable regulations, including:
- Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I (CSA C22.1).
- Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) (O. Reg. 164/99, which adopts the CEC with specific Ontario Amendments).
- CAN/BNQ 1784-000: Canadian Hydrogen Installation Code (CHIC), as adopted by relevant provinces (e.g., regulated by the TSSA in Ontario).
- Execute and lead complex service repair projects on existing hydrogen infrastructure, including specialized procedures like liquid tank repairs and vacuum jacket line repairs.
- Support the commissioning, ongoing maintenance, and operation of industrial hydrogen infrastructure, including but not limited to:
- Interpreting electrical wiring schematics and construction drawings/P&IDs/E&IDs.
- Pressure testing of piping systems per ASME standards.
- Be prepared to respond urgently to all field equipment repair and maintenance concerns, which may include travel on short notice.
- Provide training to first responders, customers, and other service personnel on the troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of hydrogen infrastructure.

- Maintain a supreme focus upon safety in all facets of work and ensure all relevant parties are educated on the safe operation of hydrogen equipment and infrastructure. This includes adherence to hazardous location (classified area) requirements per CEC/OESC and other relevant safety standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and required within the role.
- Associates degree or vocational degree in engineering technology, electronics, pressurized systems, or other relevant technical field of study preferred.
- Will consider a high school diploma/GED along with 3+ years of relevant work experience in construction, repair, or maintenance in an electrical, industrial, or mechanical field in lieu of a degree. 3+ years of relevant work experience is required.
- Industrial hydrogen or high-pressure systems experience highly preferred.
- Ability to travel in heavy volume and with short notice as needed (up to 100%).
- High level of skill with mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Working knowledge and practical experience with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and/or Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Hydrogen Installation Code (CAN/BNQ 1784-000) and provincial/territorial regulations governing hydrogen installations.
