About the Role:
The Service Engineer at Prime Boiler combines the hands-on expertise of a service technician with the analytical skills of an engineer. This role elevates our service quality by bringing advanced technical abilities, especially in electrical and mechanical systems. As a crucial member of the service team, you will troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize boiler systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and client expectations.
Responsibilities:
•Technical Expertise & Problem Solving:
•Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues in boilers.
•Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge to high-level repairs.
•Innovate technical solutions to improve equipment performance and lifespan.
•Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals for efficient service operations.
•Embrace & Champion Technology:
•Lead in adopting new tools and technologies that improve service efficiency.
•Serve as the team’s go-to person for new tech implementations in Service.
•Mentor technicians in advanced technical skills, focusing on engineering principles.
•Collaborate on developing technical training programs and competency assessments.
•Client Interaction & Service Delivery:
•Act as the primary technical expert for client inquiries and troubleshooting.
•Communicate technical solutions clearly to clients and promote additional services.
•Documentation & Reporting:
•Maintain accurate service records and prepare reports on system performance.
•Identify areas for operational improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
•Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related technical field).
•Experience: 5+ years in a technical service role, ideally with advanced experience in mechanical and electrical systems. Boiler experience is an asset.
•Certifications: A Journeyman ticket in Gasfitting or Plumbing is beneficial but not mandatory.
•Proficiency in diagnosing complex technical issues.
•Strong understanding of engineering principles with practical field application.
•Excellent communication skills for explaining technical details to all audiences.
•Knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations, and best practices.

Work Environment:
This role is based primarily at client sites, with occasional work in our Red Deer office. It involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and working with heavy equipment in various conditions.
