Technician reports directly to Pipeline Supervisor and is a self-starter and member of multi-disciplined crew responsible for all operations and maintenance activities of pipeline and compressor station in compliance with DOT Part 192 regulations. Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues and compliance with policies and procedures are essential for safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pipeline, measurement & regulation facilities, and compressor facilities.
Understand pipeline and compressor station operations and maintenance requirements in accordance with applicable governmental regulations; DOT Part 192, EPA, OSHA, NEC and related technical and safety codes, standards and reporting requirements. Technician - Rotating Equipment is knowledgeable of pipeline and compressor station guidelines and operating and maintenance practices regarding relevant equipment. Technician - Rotating Equipment has knowledge of pipeline and compressor station mechanical equipment and control systems including turbines, compressors, pumps, valves and operators, digital controls, automation, and possesses strong maintenance diagnostic skills. The primary skill discipline is compressor/control system operations & maintenance. Technician - Rotating Equipment must be qualified in one or more additional pipeline disciplines to include pipeline operation, measurement, or corrosion.
- Perform duties of pipeline and compressor station operations and maintenance technician.
- Maintain pipeline and compressor station reliability to meet daily gas nominations.
- Expert level maintenance and troubleshooting of Solar Gas Turbines, Solar and other Station mechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair equipment including compressors, turbines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
- Ability to use a variety of tools and test equipment, including but not limited to, analog and digital multi-meters, pressure and temperature calibrators, vibration analyzers, etc.
- Maintain all pumps, compressors, gas turbines, motors, vessels, utilities, piping, tanks, liquid loading systems, etc.
- Perform pipeline operations and repair activities, may include reading rectifiers, atmospheric corrosion inspections, obtaining pipe to soil reading, performing leak surveys, and handling high pressure natural gas.
- Performs pipeline maintenance such as valve maintenance, pigging, responding to encroachments, pipeline patrols, public awareness, emergency response, etc.
- Train on environmental safety, operations, and security procedures annually.
- Maintain facility, recognizing environmental consequences of actions and striving for highest levels of environmental and safety compliance.
- Utilizes computerized maintenance management system to schedule maintenance and record maintenance data and informs pipeline management team of potential problems and failures in a timely manner; works with maintenance team to resolve problems and improve pipeline and compressor station reliability and safety.
- Perform all duties applying safety procedures and adhering to regulatory standards.
- Maintains compliance with air permits including documentation.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
- Education and Certifications: Associate degree or equivalent technical or engineering discipline or related military training in technical related discipline, with knowledge of rotating equipment or equivalent experience with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. Must be Operator Qualified in specific tasks as this is a DOT safety sensitive position. Valid driver’s license is required. Experience with Solar compressor operations and control systems, and system retrofits is required. Must obtain Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
- Experience: minimum of 15 years’ experience with natural gas fired turbines operation and maintenance, with seven years advanced experience with Solar turbines and compressors. Proficient with turbine/compressor mechanical and control systems. Experience in commissioning, operating, data base management, and compliance for pipeline systems, and technical knowledge of station control systems.

Technician is an expert in its field and requires minimal supervision.
- Will be required to be available for stand-by duty on weekends and after hours or called-out after hours, weekends, or holidays.
- While performing duties of this job, employee is required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, smell, type and write.
- Must be able to scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height, lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- While performing duties of job employee will work indoors and outdoors exposed to year around weather conditions, noise, and occasionally process gases and vapors.
- Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
