Technical Safety & Reliability Engineer – Experience with traditional reliability engineering/risk management tools - HazID, HazOPs, Hazard Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, etc. Minimum 5 years experience in Functional Safety Management (SIL verfication at product or system level)
Technical Safety & Reliability Engineer – Individual will create project and product development reliability program strategies and execute the plan requirements to closure.
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the following:
- Completes project and new product development TS&R activities in accordance with program requirements (FMECAs, HazOPs, Hazard Analysis, RCAs, SIS/SIL, etc.)
- Reviews design documentation, drawings, DBI’s (database information), specifications, etc. of existing or new technology or applications. Ensures that assignments meet standards and performance requirements within area of expertise.
- Consults with other departments on equipment designs and questions. Identifies root cause of problems. Develops alternative solutions and communicates associated benefits and risks
- Participates in planning and scheduling projects.
- Generate, document and execute a plan to select and/or develop technology.
- Ensures safety (behavior and conditions) is improving as measured by company goals, through proactive and positively interactions in all activities.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge on reliability technologies and systems from relevant external organizations and bodies to drive world-class strategies and ensure continuous improvement in areas of responsibilities.
- Insists that customers, process operators and process owners play their position and ensures requirements are mutually agreed upon, clear, measurable, and appropriately placed
- Leads the development of technical risk management strategies for projects and new product developments in accordance with established processes.
- Leads/facilitates reliability engineering analysis for projects and new product developments in accordance with established processes.
- Collaborates with product designers, operating facilities, partnership organizations and external supply chains to define, direct, and coordinate work and responsibilities throughout all stages of technology readiness Levels (TRLs).
- Manages the development and is responsible for delivery to established processes.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 years in Functional Safety Management.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in safety and reliability tools such as HazID, HazOPs, FMEA/FMECAs, Fault Trees, Root Cause Analysis, and Safety Integrity Level standards.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiar with industry standards and practices including ISO-20815, API 17N/Q RP, IEC 61508/61511, especially in subsea applications.
- Leadership: Proven experience as a technical lead with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and drive execution.
- Analytical Skills: Strong numeric and problem-solving abilities with a focus on quality and functional safety applications.
- Communication: Effective communicator with skills in consensus-building, decision-making, and presenting technical information.
- Industry Background: Preferred experience in the oil and gas sector, particularly in surface or subsea completions.
- Work Ethic: Self-motivated, collaborative, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
This position does not have reports and operates with limited supervision.
Internal/External Contacts: System Engineers, Product Engineering Managers, Product Engineering Leads, Product owners, engineers, Client counterpart and specialists.
- Office based position with occasional trips offsite.
- 90% office environment and 10% field (offsite; days / nights) environment.
Frequent sitting and operating computer. Possible National and international travel by air, road and rail: Europe, Asia, Africa, S. America.
